State of Georgia ABLE Plan
The Georgia STABLE Program offers tax-advantaged savings accounts for individuals with disabilities, allowing them to save and invest without losing eligibility for benefits like SSI or Medicaid. These accounts can be used to pay for a wide range of disability-related expenses and are designed to promote financial independence, stability, and peace of mind for Georgians with disabilities and their families.
Who is eligible for a Georgia STABLE account? The individual must:

- Have a qualifying disability that began before age 26 and is expected to last at least one year (Beginning January 1, 2026, age of disability increases to 46)
- Meet one of the following criteria:
- Eligible for SSI or SSDI
- Have a condition on the SSA’s Compassionate Allowances list
- Legally blind as defined by the Social Security Act
